M.Phil (Clinical Psychology)
Ms. Aswathy S, Clinical Psychologist (M.Phil. Clinical Psychology), is a trained mental health professional with expertise in psychological assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions. She completed her M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, graduating with First Class with Distinction. She holds an M.Sc. in Applied Psychology (Clinical) from Pondicherry Central University and a B.Sc. in Psychology from Kuriakose Elias College, Mannanam, where she secured 7th rank in the University.
She has experience in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and behavioural interventions. Her assessment experience includes IQ testing, personality assessment, developmental screening in children and psychodiagnostic evaluation. She works with a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, personality-related difficulties, stress management, emotional and interpersonal concerns, PTSD as well as child-related concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
Her therapeutic approach is warm, empathetic, and client-centred, incorporating Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care. Her clinical foundation is further strengthened by internships and clinical training at the Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (IMHANS), Kozhikode; Adayar Cancer Institute, Chennai; The Banyan Project, Tamil Nadu; Chengalpettu Government Hospital, Tamil Nadu where she gained exposure to diverse clinical populations and multidisciplinary mental healthcare settings.
Her academic and research interests include interpersonal relationships, attachment and relationship dynamics in psychological wellbeing, parenting and family relationships, and child-related psychological concerns. Her academic work has explored attachment and psychological wellbeing in romantic relationships as well as in parenting self-efficacy, social support, and psychological wellbeing among parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
She has also worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Kuriakose Elias College, Mannanam, where she taught both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students and supported their academic development, with teaching exposure to developmental, abnormal, social, and child psychology. She is fluent in Malayalam, English, and Tamil.
